I have recently bought T and i installed windows 7. It was working smoothly untill two days ago. When i shutdown the laptop from the windows, and after a complete restart, the laptop starts again.
Even when i shutdown using the power button, it will start again. This problem is due to Thinkpad Power Management Driver 1. I encountered this problem 2 days ago and the problem was resolved after rolling back to IBM PM Device driver version 1.
Thinkpad PM Driver version 1. I'm having the same problem. I have a very new T, but everytime since two days now I shut it down, it starts again after seconds.
I updated all my lenovo drivers, including the "Thinkpad Power Management Driver" to the actual version 1. I am a bit frustrated already because I don't know how to fix it.
My problem as well is, I am from Germany and there I also bought the Tbut now I am in Spain studying one semester here. So sending the T to the lenovo service is completely out of the question, as I need my laptop here every day.
Windows 10 Restarts after Shutdown: How to Fix It
I can't be some days or weeks without, for studying and personal communicating with family purposes. Means: I have to find a solution here and hopefully with your help here.
I have this problem also with an T since 1 day. I reinstalled windows from scatch. I think it needs to be send to repair. When I first received the machine this function worked fine; that is, it went into sleep mode "normally". I have upgraded drivers, etc. Waterbury, CT. After fighting with this issue and trying every solution posted i found out it is a keyboard issue.
The power button on the keyboard is still making contact somehow and turns the laptop back on. I have seen this in the T and T I am sure it is other models as well.

Give it a try, it's free for 15 days: Try FixMe.For the past week I've had an interesting problem with my T Whenever I shut it down or put it to sleep, it waits about 2 seconds, and then restarts. Even if I push the power button for a few seconds when it is restarting, it restarts again.
The only way to shut down the computer is to remove the battery. I've run my virusware and malware, changed settings in my registry PowerdownAfterShutdownand tried System Restore which failed.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've read a recommendation to update the BIOS, but I'm not sure how to do that, and if it would help? Keep us informed on your issue. I checked my system information and I now have the new version.
Unfortunately that didn't solve my problem. This must be an issue outside of Windows, right, since pushing the power button off on startup still restarts it and I just tried this again to check? Where would such a wake on setting be?
As far as I know I haven't altered any wake settings. If that is not it too, disconnect any network cable and repeat, it might be "wake on magic packet" or something over your LAN cable.
Wouldn't that be reset with my BIOS update though? I'll check anyways, but I'm doubting that's it, since it restarts connected to AC power or battery which is how I drained the battery completely twice while it sat in my backpack. Try go bios, erase the fingerprint or disable the fingerprint device and see if it stops. If I have the time and resources, I would download window 7, setup a 30 to 40GB partition, install a window on that partiiton and boot into that partition to see if the restart problem recur.
Okay, nothing is solving the problem. I did disable the "wake on LAN" setting, I also disabled the fingerprint reader, even though I don't have one. And I unplugged the computer and tried to shut it down. Still restarted. I also updated the power manager driver.
Short of reformatting or partitioning my drive and installing a second copy of Windows, any other recommendations? I can do those but its sort of last resort. Is it most likely a hardware problem, or are there other drivers I should be updating? Could my boot order be off? Could this be the problem? Can I disable just this port?Menu Menu. I've had a Lenovo IdeaPad Z since this past summer which has worked fairly fine in most aspects. However, just recently over the past several days it has come into the habit of shutting off at random and instantly rebooting, as if I had just turned it on. This occurs both under Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7, so I'm fairly certain it is not a software issue. I also ran Memtest and received no errors, so I think I can rule memory out as well. Also, sometimes after this occurs, it is difficult to get the laptop running again.
I'll press the power button, the LEDs will light, and then it will power off again. Last time I had to power on about four times before it actually started booting, but then it worked fine. I doubt that the new SSD is the issue because it seems to be a power or BIOS issue, and this started occurring a number of weeks after I installed the new drive.
However, it may be possible that I inadvertently damaged something in the process, though I don't remember any screwdriver slips or liquid accidents. I also do not believe this is limited to AC power. It only occurs a couple of times a day, so I can't adequately test by leaving it on battery power all day.
However, last time it turned off and I had to struggle to get it back on, I unplugged it while doing so and had no luck.Keep in touch and stay productive with Teams and Officeeven when you're working remotely. Thought I would share my experience after successfully upgrading my Lenovo desktop to Windows I found that even though I was selecting the Shut Down option I would come back and find my desktop had restarted itself. I did some searching around online and found out this is a common problem across Windows 10 and in my case my Wifi driver was set to automatically start my desktop if prompted by the wifi. To resolve this I went to my Control Panel, then Network, then right clicked on the Wifi option to bring up the sub menu and selected Properties.
I then selected the Configure button on the dialog box that appears and finally selected the Power Management tab and unticked the option that "Allow the device to wake the computer". If you use an Ethernet cable you may to to repeat these steps for that network option too. Guess one for Microsoft to fix in a future patch as I never had this issue when the desktop ran Windows 8. DamonVance Created on April 2, I began with Windows 8, and upgraded to Windows 10 with no issues. I've had no problems with this machine ever since I've had it, until about a month ago, when after a Windows update, my laptop began shutting down every single time I try to put it in sleep mode, whether by closing the lid or by manually selecting sleep mode; my power settings say closing the lid is set to sleep mode. These shut downs are not proper shutdowns either, as I have checked the event viewer and it says the shutdown was unexpected.
